Sometimes I'll talk to a business owner who says they already have a website and demonstrate they're proud of the fact they've had it for 15 years or more. But design is fashion. If your Sacramento Website is older than your car, it's too old and needs to be updated.
Oversized type and elements
In order to communicate clearly and instantaneously, websites are favoring large, prominent elements. This magnitude in design applies to just about anything on a webpage, from big, bold typography, to fullscreen images and videos, and even oversized website menu icons.
Enlarged elements such as these are eye-catching, and help site visitors understand what the site’s all about right off the bat. Not to mention, they look great on any screen size. For this trend to truly shine, reduce the number of design elements on each page. Keep in mind that too many grand features all at once can be overwhelming and counterproductive
Design for Mobile
We’ve already entered an era where mobile web traffic has comfortably overtaken more traditional desktop traffic in many key regions. Globally, mobile traffic is responsible for approximately 52% of all web traffic. By the end of 2019, 63% of all mobile phone users will access the Internet primarily via their device. Hence, there’s never been a more important time to focus on the leading responsive design trends, approached entirely from the perspective of the end-user.
Organic Shapes
Geometric shapes were a big website design trend in 2019 but in 2020, it’s all about organic shapes. Organic or fluid shapes are anything that doesn’t involve straight lines. Think of the shapes that happen in nature, like hills or the way the edges of a lake or river are asymmetrical and winding.
Trendy color schemes
I’m sure we’re all familiar with the color combinations and color schemes that are trendy in other parts of our lives, be it music, clothing, social media, etc. I expect in 2020 that some of these color combinations will make their way into website designs.
